MEPC has rich experience in refractory design for tundish used in continuous casting. According to customers’ requirements and ideas, we give presentation of our design concept and plan first, while detailed design plan is prepared according to their actual production and surrounding conditions so that it not only meet demand of production process and kind of steel  but the inclusion in liquid steel would be reduced  production cost as lower as possible . Refractory supplied by MEPC is designed and produced as per international and also Chinese national standards according to customers’ requirements. MEPC also supplies refractory as per customers’ tighter and special requirements. Service life of tundish used with refractory supplied by MEPC has exceeded 50 heats (more than 1000 min).

With the development of continuous casting technology, tundish has functions not only as a container and distributor of liquid steel, but also for metallurgical function (also called tundish metallurgy). Quality of refractory of tundish, which is the last vessel in steelmaking process, has great effect on the quality of cast billets and slabs etc.. Application of different tundish function dam and weir (including filter), impact plate(pot), insulation multi-crystal fiber board, castable for permanent lining, gunning mix for working lining and dry setting materials  as well as basicalization and becoming lighter of their materials, has improved tundish service life, meeting customers’ requirements on duration  of continuous casting and steel quality.
